A size 10 fly that represents the adult damsel that hasn’t quite made it. The body is olive dubbing with a wire rib and the tail is olive marabou. Folded back wings of white raffia and black stalk eyes complete the pattern. Fish this fly on a floating or intermediate line in the top three feet of water, only retrieve to keep in touch with the fly. Fish will take it with confidence, either on the surface or down 2 or 3 feet, knowing that it’s a meal that won’t fly away. This pattern is mainly used on lakes, but it would take fish on running water as well. Mid to late season would be the most productive time.
