]]>Last week saw both the Improver and Salmon Masterclass tying groups in action - it was great to see everyone getting stuck-in to the detail of both small CDC pattens (size 16 and smaller) and Frank and Paul had great fun with the Salmon Tyers. Last weeks pattern images are a CDC Looping Emerger, Tuft Emerger 01 and 02 along with Franks developed Atomic Apache.

We had the opportunity to see the complete range of products that they supply from Sage, Rio, Vision, Reddington and C&F, and to meet the representatives from each company who talked us through the whole of the current range.
There are, as ever, many new developments and some additions to the ranges, and inevitably a few of the products drop out of the range to make way for new improved versions. Over the next week or two Paul will be flicking through the glossy brochures trying to decide what we really ought to offer to you, and I will be entering the shiny new rods, reels, and trick bits of clothing and tackle on to the website for you to browse (and buy). Paul will be featuring a few of the products in particular for short reviews which will be publicised further on Facebook and Twitter.
Keep tuned in!

I will be adding some images to our Facebook and Twitter pages later today.
Back to work now.......
]]>Busy times to say the least...... and whilst all this is going on Judith will be in charge back at the Store ready to help with your inquiries and orders.
Off to pack a bag and polish a few fly lines.........

Among the most fascinating items were the Ugly Duckling wobblers. I have not come across them before, but they bear a passing resemblance to a Rapala I suppose. I had to do a bit of research to find out more about these spinning lures, and I was amazed at what I found. Perhaps I am showing my age as I was surprised to find a Facebook group dedicated to these little chaps. They seem to be very popular on the continent, and seem effective for pike and perch, and I think the larger ones could be used for salmon. They would be ideal for beginners as they are fairly cheap, so no great loss if they get snagged and lost. That said, snagging should be rare as they are a floating lure.
Now, to start on my own home...
]]>I have suddenly realised that I have neglected the blog for a month. That will serve as a useful lesson that we must keep adding news to the blog to keep all our friends and customers up to date as to what we are up to. And we are up to plenty.
Work on the website continues. What we initially thought could be a fairly quick process revealed itself to be more involved and drawn out than anticipated, but is coming together more easily than anticipated. I don't expect that we will rule the world over night, but I really feel that we will make a success of this venture now. There have been a few days of doubt and anguish, but the thing that we have invested most is time, time looking into how to get this as right as we can at the launch. We hope we are close, but as has been mentioned before, this will be a work in progress, and there will be developments, tweaks and improvements as we go.
Apart from putting the online shop together Paul has been busy instructing, guiding and fishing mostly locally on Draycote, and is shortly heading north to the Deveron with a group from our associated company, Heart of England Fly Fishing School. Conditions have been difficult on the Deveron (and on many of the rivers in Scotland) this year, and it is unlikely to improve next week, but if your line isn't in the water and all that! Paul will be at the CLA Game Fair on Saturday visiting friends and contacts in the fishing and tying world. Be sure to keep a look out for the Heart Of England Fly Fishing School Facebook page and twitter feed (@HoEFFS), and instagram (HOEFFS) page for news of the leviathan salmon that Paul and the team dredge from the depths of the Deveron!
