A size 10 sedge pattern. The grizzle hackled thorax and the red game palmered body make this an almost unsinkable fly. The glint from the silver caddis Wing acts as a strong trigger to persuade the trout to take this pattern in preference to the naturals. It should be fished on a tapered leader to rising fish, using either a dead drift style with the occasional twitch or, as night approaches, skated across the surface. When no fish are rising this pattern can also be used to drag fish to the surface. The pattern can be used on lakes or rivers, depending on the availability of the natural insect. The fly is an evening pattern, best used between June and September
