This is a size 10 pattern and represents the Corixa or Lesser Water Boatman. The body is Firefly’s Lumi foam and the wing case is cock pheasant tail fibres. Two brown micro fibbets are tied in at the head, sloping backwards, to imitate the paddles. The head is formed with tying thread; two dots of black varnish suggesting the eyes and the head is completed with a several coats of clear varnish. The corixa is found in weedy areas of lakes and reservoirs, and as they have to make constant journeys to the surface to replenish their oxygen, they seldom live in water more than 3 ft deep. August and September are the most productive time for this pattern.
