This pattern is tied on a size 12 hook and imitates the small green/yellow caterpillar. The body, head and tail are formed, in a detached style, from yellow dyed deer hair. On the thorax region there is a small tuft of orange fur that acts as a sight indicator both when the fly is on the surface and when it’s gone subsurface. This caterpillar hazardously swings on a thread above the water; this thread breaks often enough for trout to know its worth eating. Fish this pattern under trees and by bank side vegetation on lakes and rivers.
