This pattern is tied on a size 14 hook and is a representation of an upwinged olive. The fly consists of a lightly dubbed dark olive body and thorax region; a black split tail and light almost transparent material wings. The simplicity of the tying and the lack of supporting hackle makes this fly ideal for fishing those very quiet pools where not a breath of wind ruffles the surface. Fishing this pattern in slow moving water means fish have time to minutely examine the anglers offering. Wary fish will not refuse this pattern. This fly can be used from May to September, on lakes or rivers, whenever medium sized olives are hatching.
