This is a size 14 pattern and is tied to represent the common Bluebottle. This is a terrestrial pattern, so of course there is no hatch as such but the natural is blown on to the water all season long so fish readily recognize it as food. Trout will often rise to it on rivers and lakes when little fly is on the water, and they do this even in quite deep pools. The body comprises of black dubbing with a pearl rib; the wing is a natural CDC feather and the eyes are burnt monofilament. This fly can be used all season, but works best in late summer.
