A size 16 pattern imitating a black ant. The body is formed with black feather fibres folded over the shank of the hook, and then folded back to form the head and legs. On top of the hook there is a tuft of orange fur which is an excellent sight indicator and can be seen from long distances. Under trees and by bank side vegetation are reliable places to cast this fly using a drag free presentation. If flying ants are landing on the water cast the fly wherever there is surface activity. Use this pattern on both lakes and rivers from May to October.
