This pattern is tied on a size 14 hook and is a representation of the female Pond Olive Spinner. The body of the fly is orange tying silk; the tail and thorax hackle is of white cock hackle. Any lake that has a significant hatch of Pond Olives, come evening and early morning, will have it's margins littered with dead and dying spinners. Casting this pattern in those areas or to rising fish can result in excellent dry fly sport. The fly is primarily a lake fly and performs well all summer with peaks in June, July and September.
