This pattern is tied on a size 16 hook and is a general Olive representation. The tail is Moose hair, the body gray dubbing, the wing is grizzle hackle points and the supporting hackle is grizzle. This fly is an American import that has proved its worth in the U.K. over a number over years. It can be put on the end of the leader whenever a small to medium upwing fly is hatching, which makes it a very versatile pattern. It should be cast upstream to rising fish and fished down with drag free presentation. The fly can be used from the start of the season to the finish; mostly on rivers but it will work on lakes with a hatch of up winged flies.
