This is a size 12 pattern and represents an emerging Buzzer. The body and the thorax are dubbed black with a rib of fine gold wire. Over the eye and the bend of the hook grey CDC is tied in, giving the “Shipman's” style to the fly. The natural fly rises to the surface and sits in the surface film, awaiting hatching. The CDC feather supports this pattern in a very realistic way and proves very successful when trout are moving just subsurface taking hatching midges. Cast this fly to moving fish and fish it very slowly with hardly any retrieve at all - just staying in contact and avoiding any slack line. This is a lake fly that can be used all season.
